Shipping Policy

This Shipping Policy provides a simplified overview of how shipping works on Avento. It is intended to help Buyers and Sellers understand their responsibilities better.

This policy does not replace our Terms of Service. In case of any conflict, the Terms of Service prevail, in particular Section 7 (Shipping) and Section 6.9 (Disputes).

1. Avento’s Role in Shipping

Avento operates as a marketplace facilitator only.

We do not ship items ourselves and are not a carrier.

All shipping arrangements are made directly between Buyers and Sellers through the Avento platform.

2. Shipping Times

  • The item is shipped within 7 weekdays of purchase
  • The item arrives within 14 weekdays of dispatch for shipping

Following, the maximum time of delivery is 21 days from purchase.

3. Seller Shipping Responsibilities

Sellers are responsible for shipping sold items in accordance with the Terms of Service.

This includes:

  • Dispatching the item for shipping within 7 days of purchase confirmation
  • Using a reliable, established shipping carrier (e.g. DHL, UPS, FedEx, DPD, GLS, USPS, Royal Mail)
  • Providing valid online tracking
  • Ensuring secure and protective packaging
  • Being able to provide proof of proper packaging (photos) in case of a dispute

If a Seller fails to ship within 7 days, the order is automatically cancelled and fully refunded to the Buyer.

4. Transfer of Risk During Shipping

Unless the Seller fails to meet their shipping obligations:

  • The Buyer bears the risk of loss or damage during shipment
  • This applies to:
    • The initial shipment from Seller to Buyer
    • Any return shipment following a dispute

Once the Seller can show valid proof of dispatch and tracking, the risk transfers to the Buyer.

Avento assumes no liability for loss, damage, or delays caused by shipping carriers.

5. Shipping Costs

  • Sellers set shipping prices in advance for:
    • National shipping (same country)
    • Continental shipping (same continent)
    • Global shipping
  • Sellers may not charge additional shipping costs if actual costs exceed what was listed
  • Buyers must select the correct shipping region at checkout

If an incorrect region is selected, this may result in:

  • A required payment of the difference, or
  • Cancellation of the order

6. Returns & Dispute Shipments

If a dispute is resolved in favor of the Buyer:

  • The item must be returned to the Seller
  • The Buyer pays the return shipping costs
  • The same shipping obligations as in Section 7 (Seller Shipping Responsibilities) apply for returns

Insured shipping is strongly recommended for both outbound and return shipments.

7. Delivery Delays & Non-Arrival

If an item:

  • Is marked as “shipped” but does not arrive, or
  • Does not arrive within 14 days of shipment

The Buyer may open a dispute through the platform within the applicable time limits.

Payments remain securely held with the payment provider while the dispute is reviewed.

8. Customs, Import Duties & Taxes

Avento is not responsible for:

  • Customs duties
  • Import taxes
  • Clearance fees
  • Any legal or regulatory charges related to cross-border shipments

Buyers and Sellers are responsible for complying with applicable laws and covering any such costs.

9. Buyer Protection & Shipping

Avento Buyer Protection:

  • Covers failure to ship and condition of the item upon delivery
  • Does not cover loss or damage during transit

Shipping-related claims are assessed strictly under the dispute rules defined in the Terms of Service.

10. No Carrier Liability

Avento is not liable for:

  • Carrier delays
  • Lost parcels
  • Damaged shipments
  • Customs holds or inspections

Any claims against shipping carriers must be handled directly by the Buyer or Seller.

11. Governing Terms

This Shipping Policy is a summary for convenience only.

All shipping matters are governed by the Avento Terms of Service, in particular:

  • Section 7 – Shipping
  • Section 6.9 – Disputes
